The Church of St James The Apostle is at 52o 18’59.78” N 20o 51’43.48” W at 140m above sea level. Wigmore is near the very northern tip of Herefordshire with Wales to the West and Shropshire to the North and North East. The village lies between the Wigmore Rolls and the Vale of Wigmore, (a Glacial Lake 20,000 years ago), on the A4110 with Hereford to the south, Shrewsbury to the north, Ludlow to the east and Kington and Knighton to the west. Wigmore Castle overlooks the village and church and is sited on a steep ridge as befits a Mortimer stronghold.
The Wigmore Centre CIC has been supported by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to commence the development phase of the transformation of St James’ Church into an Interpretive, Heritage and Community Centre.
