We are The Wigmore Centre – destined to become a purpose-built information, research, social and entertainment venue. The interior of St James will be transformed to include a café with toilets, meeting rooms, study and research facilities with Wi-Fi throughout and live streaming from the theatres of the world. A superb sound system will combine with computerised lighting and high resolution projection to offer state-of-the art media experiences. Despite all these technological and social developments, the Chancel will always remain a place for quiet reflection and more intimate services. The entire church will be made available more or less unchanged for big events like weddings and annual services such as Easter and Christmas. The Wigmore Centre at St James is for everyone to participate in and enjoy.
The Wigmore Centre CIC has been supported by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to commence the development phase of the transformation of St James’ Church into an Interpretive, Heritage and Community Centre.
