The Chairman of the Village Community Shop was delighted to receive the Queen's Award from Lady Darnley at a celebratory evening last week. This is a highly prestigeous award and a great honour and achievement for the village.
The shop was started in 2008 by a small group of villagers and after a rocky start and lots of hard work is now an amazing success - it has become an important social hub as well as an important resource. The volunteers are all very committed and the award is very well deserved.
Thank you to everyone who keeps the shop going - we don't know what we would do without you. Very well done.
The Wigmore Centre CIC has been supported by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to commence the development phase of the transformation of St James’ Church into an Interpretive, Heritage and Community Centre.
